This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have over it. It was last updated on 29 July 2026.
Who we are
This website, jillmcculloch.com, is run by Jill McCulloch, who provides public speaking coaching, training and speaking engagements. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Jill McCulloch is the data controller for personal information collected through this site.
How to contact us about your information:

What we collect, and why
When you use the enquiry form
The form on our contact page asks for your name, your email address and your message. We use these only to reply to you and to discuss the speaking, coaching or course enquiry you have made. The form sends the details to us by email. You are not added to any mailing list unless you ask to be.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: responding to an enquiry you have chosen to send us.
When you book a course place
If you book a place on a Speak for Impact course, we collect your name, email address and telephone number so we can confirm the booking, send you joining instructions and contact you if the arrangements change.
Payment is taken by PayPal. Your card or PayPal account details are entered on PayPal’s own systems and are never seen or stored by us. We receive confirmation that the payment succeeded, together with the name and email address on the order. PayPal acts as a separate data controller for the payment itself, so their own privacy statement applies to that part.
Our lawful basis is performance of a contract, so we can provide the course place you have paid for, and legal obligation for keeping financial records.
When you simply visit the site
Our web host keeps standard server logs recording visitors’ IP addresses, the pages requested, the time of each request and the browser used. These logs exist to keep the site running and secure, and they are deleted on the host’s normal rotation.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: keeping the site available and secure.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. This site uses only the cookies it needs in order to work:
- WordPress sets cookies that keep the site functioning, and that remember you if you sign in as an administrator.
- The booking system sets a cookie to remember what is in your ticket basket while you check out.
- PayPal may set its own cookies while you are on PayPal’s payment pages.
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising cookies or any third party tracking on this site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the booking process may stop working if you do.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for marketing. We share it only with the suppliers who help us run the website and the business:
- our web hosting provider, which stores the website and its database on servers in the UK;
- PayPal, which processes course payments;
- our email provider, which carries enquiry emails and booking confirmations;
- our accountant and HMRC, where we are required to keep and report financial records.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: up to two years from your last contact with us, then deleted.
- Course bookings and client records: six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, because HMRC requires financial records to be kept for that long.
- Server logs: as set by our host, typically a few weeks.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete your information, where we have no continuing reason to keep it;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to us using it;
- ask us to transfer it to another provider, where that applies;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where consent is what we relied on.
To exercise any of these, email jill@coachyou.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Keeping your information safe
The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, access to the website administration is limited to named accounts with individual passwords, and enquiry and booking data is held in password protected systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you give us.
Children
This website and our services are aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 16.
